Birds on the Trail
September 21 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am
Let’s celebrate the first day of fall (two days early) with a hike on the D&H Rail-Trail in search of some beautiful birds. Our guide for the morning will be birding expert David Trently who is Director of Operations for North American for the Partnership for International Birding and has led guided birding trips all around the US and to other countries, including Panama, Ecuador, Mexico and Belize. Birds will be in fall migration during the month of September so David hopes we encounter a mix of migrating songbirds, including warblers, tanager, flycatchers and vireos and if it is a warm day, butterflies and dragonflies as well.
This event will focus on sight identification as well as song, habitat and behavior. While participants enjoy the health benefits of a walk on the D&H Rail-Trail, David will help us discover many varieties of birds that nest in our region.
RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or 570-679-9300 SPACE IS LIMITED.
Don’t own your own binoculars? We have brand new binoculars thanks to Get me outdoors PA mini grant awarded last year. Let us know if you would like to loan a pair out for the morning when you RSVP, supplies are limited.
